Happy Christmas, everyone! May you all get shiny presents and lots of tasty food :).

X-men 3 tomorrow

  • Jun. 17th, 2006 at 2:37 PM

I'm off to see X-men tomorrow afternoon, at either UGC Shaftesbury Avenue (3.50pm) or UGC West India Quay (3.30pm). Does anyone feel like come along?

Moving!

  • Jun. 3rd, 2006 at 9:30 PM

Well, it looks like everything has finally come together and we should complete the purchase of our shiny new flat this Wednesday! On the Friday the carpet will arrive and be laid, all ready for the big move on Saturday. The removal van is booked for 10am, and hopefully the move itself won't be too bad - if any of you are free that day and feel like popping over to help out, it'd be most appreciated and we promise to reward you with food & alcohol of some kind.

We've then got the sofa & washing machine arriving on Monday, and the bed on Tuesday. We then got to hand over the old flat on the Wednesday, and hopefully get our lovely deposit back.

It's looking to be a busy week or so, but it'll all be worth it I'm sure :)

Go Lordi and well done Finland!

I'm so glad the UK managed to give them 12 points too :)

Tomorrow morning, I need to be at Pitsea train station, in Essex, for 9.30am. When I check the website of the train company that run the line out to Essex, I find a timetable that *clearly* states that I need to catch a train from West Ham station. When I check on the journey planner on the *same* fucking website, it says the train leaves from Stratford, 15 minutes earlier than on the pdf timetable!

How hard is it possible for one train company to have two, mutually contradictory, timetables on ONE website!?

The bastards!

This means I now need to leave enough time tomorrow morning to check *both* stations.

Fucking bloody sucky shithole arse-wipe cock-weasel c2c!

Any bets as to which station it'll actually be, cos I'll be damned if I know?

Oh, and for the icing on the cake, c2c don't have a phone number I can call on weekends, and National Rail Enquiries only parrot the journey planner info back to me.

I want to shoot them all, with a rifle.

EDIT: Turns out the engineering work is stopping the West Ham service from running, and pushing it on to Straford instead. Shame there's no hint of that on c2c's website next to the actual pdf timetables though. Still, at least I know where to go tomorrow morning now.

You scored as Captain Jack Sparrow. Roguish,quick-witted, and incredibly lucky, Jack Sparrow is a pirate who sometimes ends up being a hero, against his better judgement. Captain Jack looks out for #1, but he can be counted on (usually) to do the right thing. He has an incredibly persuasive tongue, a mind that borders on genius or insanity, and an incredible talent for getting into trouble and getting out of it. Maybe its brains, maybe its genius, or maybe its just plain luck. Or maybe a mixture of all three.

Another Whitby

  • Nov. 1st, 2005 at 2:23 PM

Having just got back from Whitby yesterday, I suppose I really should get round to doing an update.

Whitby )

And now I'm back in the lab, feeling slightly worse for wear and rather poorer than I was on Thursday morning :)

On a non-Whitby note, life in general is going pretty well right now - the PhD isn't being too much work and the rest of the lab people are decent enough. I still seem to be very busy most weeks, but I have to say it makes a nice change to doing nothing but coursework and exam revision as I did last year.

Ooh, and as everyone else is doing this quiz, here are my results:

More housewarming date stuff

  • Aug. 24th, 2005 at 2:10 PM

Hmm - it looks as though a fair number of people can't make the 3rd for a party, but would the 17th be more convienient for most? It'll have to be one of those weekends, otherwise the party won't happen until October the 8th at least...

Because I am bored

2. Pass it on.

The Great British Beer Festival starts tomorrow - does anyone feel like wandering along either tomorrow or on Thursday or Friday? I feel I need more alcahol-induced silly conversations, following on from Aaron's birthday party on Saturday :)

In other news, the move went fairly well and the unpacking is proceeding, though it's being held up by a lack of bookshelves right now. Apart from that, I'm not really doing much but there will be a house warming party as soon as everything (or almost everything) is unpacked.
